The Heritage Fiesta
The Heritage Fiesta is a cultural event held at the Jackson Center for the Arts, dedicated to highlighting and sharing the diversity of our traditions. During this celebration, attendees can enjoy a wide variety of cultural expressions, including cuisine representative of different countries, traditional attire, customs, dances, and music.
The event features performances of traditional Mexican dances, as well as live music that enhances the cultural experience. The Heritage Fiesta seeks to bring diverse communities together in a single space to foster learning, appreciation, and respect for the various cultures present in Jackson, Minnesota.
This initiative aims to showcase the region's cultural diversity and promote inclusion through cultural exchange. It is organized by co-teacher Liliana Becerra and teacher Cay Gjertsen from the JCA's ESL class for adults, where adult students participate each year by preparing traditional dishes and wearing traditional attire from their countries of origin.
The event is funded through a grant; however, voluntary donations are also accepted during the celebration. Come and join us at the Heritage Fiesta this year!
